WHAT IS PILATES?

The Pilates method was originally developed and named Contrology by founder Joseph H Pilates at the beginning of the 20th Century.

Pilates is a form of low impact exercise that aims to strengthen muscles while improving postural alignment and flexibility.

Pilates  moves tend to target the core although the exercises work other parts of the body as well.

You can do Pilates with or without equipment, but no matter what , expect the moves to be controlled , precise with a lovely flow of movements to the body with breathe.

"PILATES IS A FULL BODY EXERCISE METHOD THAT WILL HELP YOU DO EVERYTHING BETTER!"

If practised consistently It strengthens and stabilizes your CENTRE (core of the body), which is your foundation, so that you can move more efficiently while improving posture, flexibility and mobility. The emphasis is on alignment , breathing developing a strong powerhouse (your abdomen , lower back and pelvis)along with improving posture , balance and coordination and resulting in a sense of relaxation and wellbeing

The beauty of Pilates system is that it can be adapted to suit from a beginner to advanced level making it suitable for all ages and abilities.

There are three different ways in teaching  Pilates as Pilates is for everybody. You'll be tackling a session that,s performed on a Mat or a machine called a Reformer, which is a sliding platform called the carriage that complete with stationary foot bar, springs and pulleys that provide resistance. Pilates can also be performed using a chair for seated and supported exercises for those who are not confident about getting on and of the floor.

I teach many people , men ,women , the young and the the more mature adults and all my clients always leave with their mind and bodies feeling great from their sessions and always happy and relaxed.

Pilates not only compliments your everyday life whether you are a keen walker or gardener. but also has so many excellent health benefits , that it can compliment other  sporting activities.

Working on posture, balance, alignment, stabilisation , mobilisation, and flexibility. Pilates goes hand in hand complimenting with running, cycling , horse riding, golf tennis and many more activities.
